Courtney Simons, LMHC, DMHS
Family Therapist + Diversity Specialist
Courtney is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH#60731605) and Disability Mental Health Specialist in the state of Washington. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Washington State University. Courtney’s experience includes individual, group, family, and couples therapy in a variety of settings. Before coming to Opal, Courtney worked with individuals who experience developmental disabilities for many years in a variety of contexts.
Courtney works from a collaborative, culturally aware and systems-oriented perspective, believing that the client is the expert in their own lives and that it is her job to enable clients to identify internal resources, examine the role of their system and take ownership of their story. Courtney is passionate about social justice and diversity; along with being a Family Therapist at Opal she is also our Diversity Specialist, helping us to identify and be aware of our client’s contexts and the role that these play in their lives and their recovery.
