Alex Chevrier, LMFTA is a psychotherapist, mover, artist, and photographer. Alex obtained a Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the State of Washington (MG61328967). Her therapeutic approach is rooted in systems theory, endorsing the belief that each person is deeply impacted by the various systems/relationships to which they belong, and those systems are in-turn impacted by them. She believes that each individual is capable of creating effective change in their lives by learning from their life experience and creating their own unique/personalized solutions that can last beyond treatment.
Alex has experience working with the military community (veterans, active duty, and family), families, couples, athletes, and performers. Her approach utilizes a blend of therapeutic techniques, based on individual client’s needs, that is influenced by Solution-Focused Therapy, RO-DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Structural, and movement therapy. Previous to pursuing psychotherapy, Alex obtained a BA in Dance Performance & Choreography. She has experience facilitating dance therapy for Veterans to process trauma through accessible movement and personal expression. Based on her dance background, she is particularly passionate about attuned movement and mind/body connection that comes along with building a loving and symbiotic relationship with one’s body. Alex was drawn to Opal primarily because of the focus on healing one’s relationship with their body & finding healthy, helpful, & safe ways to engage in movement which aligns with their recovery journey. Alex is also excited about the way in which Opal challenges the narrative around movement, food, and health.,
