Emma is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (#MC60982891) and Certified Nutritionist (#NU60987896) in the state of Washington. Emma left her home of North Dakota and career in wedding cake decorating in 2015 to study at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, where she graduated with a Masters of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology in 2019. Emma was a co-leader of Bastyr’s Intuitive Eating club as well as co-chair for National Eating Disorder Awareness week, and completed her counseling internship at Consejo Counseling & Referral Services which serves Seattle’s Latinx population in Columbia City. Emma is also a licensed Be Body Positive facilitator through The Body Positive in Berkeley, CA, and is a current Body Trust provider-in-training via Be Nourished in Portland, OR. A holistic view of mind, body, spirit, access to resources, identity and culture guide Emma’s approach to eating disorders, both in Opal’s milieu and in her small private practice in Interbay serving folks of all genders with food and body concerns, both in-person and virtually.
In her free time Emma enjoys trying new cookie recipes, taking meandering walks with her 14-year-old adopted terrier Harry, taking photos of Harry while he’s sleeping, buying (sometimes reading) books, watching British TV shows, and learning to play the guitar.
Emma has professional interest and advanced training in: Intuitive/Attuned Eating, Health at Every Size, self-compassion and shame resiliency, spirituality, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, non-violent communication, mythology and feminine archetypes, and pleasure activism.
